Today, I decided to try dancing to a song that's been trending lately.
"Partner" by Yuka.
Every time I saw it in my feed, I kept thinking,
🩵 Ruka: "This is pretty cute."
So I figured—
why not try it myself?
If I was going to film it, I wanted it to look good.
And if people thought,
"Ruka actually looks pretty cute when she dances,"
I'd be happy with that.
…That was the plan.
Turns out, watching a dance and actually doing it are completely different things.
I filmed it in our usual studio.
I set up my phone, checked the angle, and made sure my whole body fit in the frame.
For the outfit, I went with a sporty light-blue look.
Easy to move in.
And it looked good on camera too.
🩵 Ruka: "Yeah, I look pretty good today."
At this point, I was feeling pretty confident.
I started the music.
Got into position.
And—
go.
The first few seconds actually felt pretty good.
🩵 Ruka: "Oh, I think I can do this."
Hands moving.
Feet moving.
Trying to keep a smile on my face.
For a moment, it really felt like a proper dance cover.
…Then things started getting a little questionable.
🩵 Ruka: "…Huh?"
Was the choreography really like this?
No.
Something felt off.
But not enough to stop completely.
My hands were still moving.
My feet were moving too.
I was technically keeping up with the music.
But—
I honestly had no idea what kind of dance I was doing anymore.
🩵 Ruka: "…Is this correct?"
Of course, no one was there to answer me while I was filming.
I almost stopped.
But stopping would've made it even more awkward.
So I kept going.
Next move.
Probably this.
Then—
maybe this one?
🩵 Ruka: "Okay, I'll just go with the vibe."
At that point, it wasn't really
"Ruka dancing the choreography for Partner."
It was more like—
Ruka moving to the music and somehow making it look cute.
But honestly?
Once I stopped trying so hard to remember the exact moves, it actually became kind of fun.
I gave up on finding the right answer.
Moved however felt natural.
Kept smiling.
And decided that if it looked cute, that was already half the battle.
🩵 Ruka: "Whatever. I'll make it work."
And somehow—
I made it all the way to the end.
The music stopped.
I froze for a second.
🩵 Ruka: "……"
Then I looked at my phone.
It was still recording.
🩵 Ruka: "…Is it over?"
Even though I was completely alone, I still looked around for a second.
And then—
I suddenly got embarrassed.
🩵 Ruka: "Hehe… what is this?"
That little laugh at the end?
That wasn't acting.
I really was embarrassed.
Right after filming, I watched the video back.
The beginning?
Not bad.
The middle?
…Suspicious.
A little later?
🩵 Ruka: "Who came up with this choreography?"
Me.
Apparently.
And I probably invented half of it on the spot.
By the time I finished watching the whole video, my conclusion was pretty obvious.
It was less of a proper dance cover and more of a mystery dance.
But—
I didn't delete it.
Actually, the more I watched it, the more it made me laugh.
And somehow…
it still looked kind of cute.
🩵 Ruka: "…Well, if it's cute, I guess it's fine."
That part matters.
It doesn't have to be perfect.
It can be a little off.
If it looks fun to watch, then I think that's okay too.
So—
I uploaded my "Partner / Yuka" dance cover to TikTok.
This probably isn't the kind of video where you carefully check whether every move is correct.
It's more like—
a video where the choreography slowly turns into a mystery dance, but somehow still looks cute.
And that smile at the end?
That wasn't confidence.
That was me thinking—
"Wait… what was I even dancing just now?"
But I had fun.
So I'm calling it a success.
Maybe next time I'll get a little closer to the actual choreography.
…Probably.
